Trims And Components

This local manufacturer can make soles in any material to the highest standards and allows us to produce in very small batches or entirely on-demand, eliminating overproduction and minimising waste.
Manufacturing

Franco has had a life-long passion for shoes but decided to start his own factory together with three close friends in 1997. He is responsible for overseeing the creative development and we work very closely together to bring my designs to life. He oversees every step of production with great care and attention to detail to ensure our shoes reach you in perfect condition.
The artisans in his workshop have been honing their craft for generations and bring heart and expertise to every pair they make. Franco and Luca are focused on providing an exceptional working experience for everyone in the business. Social justice is very important to us at ESSEN and we're invested in making sure the artisans' craft is compensated accordingly. We are committed to giving continuous, well-paid work and will never switch to cheaper alternatives.
Packaging
We chose this supplier because it's close to our workshop and allows us to order in small batches so we can make only what we need. They offer FSC certified packaging which is a non-negotiable for us, but beyond that they're very focused on safeguarding the environment by using of recycled raw materials, water-based inks, a LED lighting system and management of processing waste which is considered not as waste but as materials first secondary.
Distribution

We're an Australian brand but your shoes are shipped from The Netherlands. Our warehousing and distribution were very deliberately chosen to be near our factories so we can be responsive and minimise the total distance your shoes have to travel before arriving on your doorstep.
End Of Life

Our number one mission is to keep our shoes in your closet, and out of landfill. We understand that style, fit or circumstances can change. Shifting to a circular future through reselling and recycling is a necessary responsibility towards our planet. ESSEN has proudly partnered with AirRobe so you can recycle or re-sell your shoes with one easy click.
